From the Desk of Mrs. Bonville
2/5/12
8th Grade Bible: We continue to progress through the book of Revelation, with the students still completing related chapter summaries. We will finish up Revelation next week. Upon its completion, each student will correct and hand in all their accumulated summaries in a typed format, with a title page, introduction, reflection, and conclusion.
We will be discussing this during the upcoming week, so as to give the class a full week to "fine tune" it. This project will be due on 2/17/12. This week is a "free choice" for the verse test, which will occur on Friday. As done previously, the students will be doing a typed journal for their free choice to summarize the passage they choose and also reflect on its personal application.
5/6th grade Bible: During this week we will complete chapters 14-16 of the book of Romans. The students will be doing related summaries on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be assigned a project on Rome to go along with their summary packet, which is due with its corrections on 2/17/12. We will be discussing the expectations for both parts of the "Romans" project this week, in order to give ample time for the students to work on it. This week is a "free choice" Bible verse test, which will occur on Friday the 10th, accompanied by a summary/application typed journal entry.
5th grade math: We start off this week with a quiz on Monday. We continue to work on the subject of decimals and related concepts. There will be homework on Tuesday and Thursday of this week, with a review sheet on Friday. We will be having a test on Wednesday the 15th, and will finish the week before February vacation with some review games, so as not to start a new concept before the break.
4th grade language arts: We continue learning about nouns and their usage as subjects. The class continues to work on identifying prepositional phrases, subjects and verbs in sentences. For reading, we will be reading pp. 57-99 in the ABEKA reader this week, and much of the reading will be done as homework. There will be questions assigned as homework on Monday and Friday of this week. For spelling, we are up to list 19 this week. The students will have homework assignments Monday-Wednesday and will have the vocabulary part of their test on Thursday. The rest of the spelling test will be on Friday.
